While Bitcoin has achieved significant market penetration, these core
values have been overshadowed in recent discussions, including at
academic institutions and industry events. This year, let’s explore
bitcoin, bitcoin-inspired, and other freedom technology projects as an
instrument for individual empowerment and economic freedom. The MIT
Bitcoin Expo 2025 aims to redefine Bitcoin’s role beyond financial
speculation by focusing on three key objectives:

Freedom Tech Focus
The event will showcase how these technologies serve as
instruments for preserving fundamental human rights and financial
sovereignty.

The expo will explore Bitcoin’s fundamental principles of
privacy, self-sovereignty, and decentralization.

This includes examining other Bitcoin-inspired blockchain/crypto
projects and complementary freedom technologies that enhance
individual empowerment and economic liberty.

Community Building
The initiative extends beyond the traditional two-day conference format to foster deeper community engagement.

Club activities will begin well before the April weekend finale, creating sustained opportunities for interaction between the MIT community and freedom tech enthusiasts.

The expo will strengthen the MIT Bitcoin Club’s foundation through meaningful dialogue and collaborative initiatives on-campus, involving students, faculty, researchers, and the local community.
